ORLANDO, Fla.- In what was a heated match throughout, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis team took on Brandeis University on Saturday afternoon in a neutral site match in Orlando, Florida. With Brandeis on Spring Break, the Fish traveled north for what turned out to be a 6-3 defeat at the hands of BU. The loss drops PBA to 1-2 on the season.
The Sailfish were dealt two losses in doubles action and were simply not able to recover despite some great sets against Brandeis in singles action.
After #1-doubles duo Krasi Atanasov and Luke Bolanos were defeated at the top 8-6, Frankie Moulton and Tyler Dealy came firing back for a #2-doubles win of their own at 8-6.
Brandeis however would take #3-doubles by a 8-1 count as Alex Minicozzi and Corey Kuglin were handed the loss for PBA.
In singles action, Atanasov opened with a win at #1-singles with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory while Bolanos followed suit at #3-singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win.
Brandeis turned out to be too strong however at the bottom with three victories including #4 and #5 singles requiring three sets.
PBA will begin a busy week of tennis on Tuesday, February 23rd when they take on Florida Tech in Melbourne, Florida at 3 p.m. They will then travel back to Melbourne on Thursday to square off against Concordia University in a neutral site match at 4 p.m. The week concludes with PBA battling rival Northwood University on Saturday, February 27th when the two Palm Beach County rivals take to the Delray Tennis Center for a 1 p.m. start.
