NSU Scores Early and Often in Game One Route of Sailfish Baseball

Box Score

DAVIE, Fla.- Taking part in a rare Friday evening double-header the Palm Beach Atlantic University baseball team encountered the heavy-hitting attack of #22-ranked Nova Southeastern University on Friday evening at the NSU Baseball Complex. Unfortunately for the Sailfish, the mighty bats of the Sharks proved too much in game one as they dominated their way to a 15-1 victory over PBA.

NSU (18-2) got on the board early with four runs in the first and then a back-breaking eight more runs in the second inning, all off of freshman PBA starter Carlos Hechavarria. After an 1.1 innings Hechavarria’s day was done but not before the Sharks jumped out to a 12-0 lead through two innings.

The Sharks would tack on two more in the third inning and one in the fifth as the Sailfish could manage just one run which came in the second inning on a John Marks RBI single that score Keith Clabaugh who had doubled earlier in the frame.

Junior transfer Martin Suarez came on in relief of Hechavarria and did a solid job of 4.2 innings of bullpen work while allowing only five hits, three runs, while striking out four.
