WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Bouncing back to a tough defeat on the road in their season opener on Thursday to the likes of #2-ranked Barry University, the Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis team put together a much better all-around performance as they cruised to a 7-2 victory over Saint Leo University on Friday afternoon at Gaines Park.

After a solid effort at #1-singles against Barry University on Thursday, PBA newcomer Krasimir Atanasov came back on Friday for a more enjoyable 6-1, 6-3 defeat of his counterpart Pablo Chavez. Fellow newcomer Luke Bolanos also posted his first victory of the young season with a 6-2, 6-2 #2-singles win.

Junior Tyler Dealy was the only PBA player to fall in singles as Richard MacLachlan defeated Dealy in a tight contest of 7-6 (4), 7-5.

Frankie Moulton, James Buerkle, and John Tilton all earned victories in singles as well.

In doubles action it was Atanasov and Bolanos teaming up for an 8-5 victory over the duo of Jaocbs and MacLachlan at #1-doubles. Chavez and Morales of SLU came away with an 8-4 victory over PBA’s Dealy and Tilton at #2-doubles before Buerkle and newcomer Nick Hines partnered for an 8-1 victory at #3-doubles.

Now 1-1 in regular season play, the Sailfish will host top-ranked Lynn University in their next match as they square off against the Knights on February 11th beginning with a 3 p.m. start time.
