WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Taking on #3-ranked Lynn University on Thursday afternoon, the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s tennis team gave a valiant effort but came up short against the superior Fighting Knights by a 9-0 final tally. The loss drops PBA to 1-2 to start the 2009 season.
Sailfish #1-doubles combo of Montse Ripoll and Olga Alekseeva put forth the best effort in the doubles portion of the match for PBA as they were defeated 8-4. Lina Rubiano and Natalie Aleman were defeated 8-2 at #2-doubles.
One of the top teams in all the nation and ranked #1 in the NCAA South Region, the Knights made quick work of the Sailfish in the singles portion of the match as they didn’t drop a set to the Fish.
The Fish will be back in action on Friday, February 13th as they take on Florida Southern College at Gaines Park beginning at 3 p.m.
