GULF SHORES, Ala. — The Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish entered the final day of the AVCA Small College Championship Tournament as they took on Spring Hill and Colorado Mesa
The 'Fish secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Spring Hill on Sunday. The Sailfish claimed wins in pairings two, three, and five, while pairs one and four ended in ties.
In the No. 2 flight,
Maddie Kremer and
Katelyn Nadeau put a point on the board for the Sailfish with a straight-sets victory over Spring Hill's Claire Hayes and Alessandra Lane, winning 21-15, 21-10. The duo's performance set the tone for the 'Fish's early lead.
Following suit, the No. 3 flight saw
Sydney Corbett and
Cameron Ring secure another point for the 'Fish, defeating Lille Casey and Ashlyn Whiteside of Spring Hill in straight sets, 21-18, 21-13. This win further solidified the team's position in the dual.
In the No. 5 spot,
Savanna Rogers and
Grace Reynolds completed the scoring for the Sailfish with a victory over Mia Johnson and Monica Vargo. The pair clinched the match in straight sets, 21-19, 21-13, adding the third and decisive point for the 'Fish.
In the championship matchup to determine fifth place in the national competition overall, Palm Beach Atlantic fell to Colorado Mesa University with a final score of 2-3 in a closely contested matchup.
The 'Fish secured victories in the No. 1 and No. 3 matches, but Colorado Mesa claimed three other pairs to clinch the win.
On Court 3,
Sydney Corbett and
Cameron Ring of the 'Fish put a point on the board with a straight-set win over Mikala Henderson and Addie Ritterbush from Colorado Mesa, finishing 21-17, 21-19. This victory initiated the scoring for PBA in the dual.
In the top flight,
Katie Galligan and
Angela Goggin added another point for the 'Fish, defeating Ellie Ask and Gracyn Spresser 21-17, 21-17. This win kept the 'Fish competitive as the matches progressed.
However, Colorado Mesa responded on Court 5, where Avery Malek and Jada Whittal overcame
Savanna Rogers and
Grace Reynolds in a tight match, 23-21, 21-19. The duo from Colorado Mesa secured a critical point, balancing the dual.
The 4s saw Lauren Rohlwing and Reagan Rothley from Colorado Mesa clinch the dual victory by defeating
Maggie Cox and
Zoye Caroline, 21-19, 21-17. This win provided the decisive third point for Colorado Mesa.
After the decision, the 2s went the distance, with Ewelina Gacek and Ania Swartzendruber from Colorado Mesa prevailing over
Maddie Kremer and
Katelyn Nadeau in a three-set battle, 14-21, 21-18, 15-12, rounding out the competition.
This concludes the Sailfish's 2026 season, capping it off with the program's second straight visit to the national tournament.
