Sailfish Fall Short Against Tampa in Tight SSC Championship Weekend

SAINT LEO, Fla. — Palm Beach Atlantic fell to Tampa with a final score of 2-3 at the Saint Leo Beach Volleyball Courts after a fiercely competitive weekend at the conference championship tournament

In their first game, Palm Beach Atlantic faced off against the University of Tampa in the semi-finals of the upper-bracket, ultimately falling by a score of 1-3. The Sailfish secured their sole victory in the No. 5 match, while Tampa claimed wins in the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 matches.

On Court 4, Peyton Baro and Savanna Rogers of the 'Fish faced Anna Bayes and Lauren Duke from Tampa. The pair from Tampa claimed victory in straight sets, 21-14, 21-12.

The 2s saw Maddie Kremer and Katelyn Nadeau from PBA take on Tess Schrenger and Angel Williams from Tampa. The Tampa pair secured the win with set scores of 21-16, 21-17, adding a point to Tampa's tally.

In the No. 5 flight, Maggie Cox and Zoye Caroline put a point on the board for the Sailfish by defeating Sammie Ostrander and Jordan Berglin from Tampa. The match ended in straight sets with scores of 26-24, 21-18.

Sydney Corbett and Cameron Ring of the 'Fish challenged Ka Fredette-Huffman and Hailey Peterson from Tampa in the 3s. Tampa emerged victorious after a three-set thriller, finishing 21-18, 15-21, 15-10, solidifying its standing in the dual.

PBA bounced back in their second game as Palm Beach Atlantic defeated Eckerd College with a decisive 3-0 victory in the bottom bracket. The Sailfish secured wins in the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5 pairs, while two matches ended in ties.

In the top flight, Katie Galligan and Angela Goggin of Palm Beach Atlantic put a point on the board with a straight-sets victory over Eckerd's Madison Hardbarger and Anna Jupin, winning 21-12, 21-10. The duo set the tone early, securing the first point in the dual.

The 2s saw Maddie Kremer and Katelyn Nadeau of the 'Fish add another point with a dominant performance over Brooke Hand and Maddie Prois from Eckerd. They claimed the match 21-9, 21-14, furthering the Sailfish's lead.

The No. 5 spot concluded with Maggie Cox and Zoye Caroline clinching the dual for the 'Fish, defeating Addie White and Jessi Meghreblian 21-12, 21-13. Their win marked the decisive third point for the home team.

The matches on Courts 3 and 4 were left unfinished, with Palm Beach Atlantic leading in both. Sydeny Corbett and Cameron Ring were ahead 21-12 against Teagan VanderMey and Ella Kloepper, while Peyton Baro and Savanna Rogers led 24-22 against Marti Boser and Emma Samuelson in a match that featured an intense first set.

This redemption win put PBA back in the championship match where'd they play Tampa for the second time today.

Palm Beach Atlantic ended up falling to Tampa. The Sailfish secured victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches but were unable to clinch the overall win.

On Court 4, Peyton Baro and Savanna Rogers faced Anna Bayes and Lauren Duke. The matchup concluded in straight sets, with Bayes and Duke securing the win for Tampa, 21-14, 21-7.

In the 3s, Sydeny Corbett and Cameron Ring put a point on the board for the 'Fish by defeating Ka Fredette-Huffman and Hailey Peterson, 22-20, 21-10. This victory marked the second court to complete.

The 5s saw Maggie Cox and Zoye Caroline unable to overcome Sammie Ostrander and Jordan Berglin. The Tampa pair claimed victory in straight sets, 21-18, 21-18, marking the third court to finish.

Maddie Kremer and Katelyn Nadeau, competing in the No. 2 flight, delivered a strong performance by defeating Tess Schrenger and Angel Williams in straight sets, 21-12, 23-21. This match was the fourth to conclude.

At the top flight, Katie Galligan and Angela Goggin engaged in a three-set battle against Nevaeh Wolfe and Hailey Wolfe. Despite a strong second set, Galligan and Goggin fell short with scores of 20-22, 21-14, 7-15, concluding the dual.

The Sailfish will be back in action next week as they travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama to take part in the AVCA Small College Championship Series.
