TAMPA, Fla. — The Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic (5-7) faced tough outings against the University of South Florida (7-4) and the Tampa Spartans at the Tampa Beach Volleyball Complex.
Finishing with a 1-4 result against USF. The 'Fish snagged their lone point in the No. 4 matchup.
In the top-tier battle, PBA's dynamic duo,
Maddie Kremer and
Katelyn Nadeau, engaged in a grueling three-set showdown against South Florida's Zoey Mitchell and Josephine Sek. After claiming the first set 21-16, Kremer and Nadeau couldn't sustain their momentum, falling in the next sets 20-22, 9-15, as South Florida took the point on Court 1.
At the 2s,
Katie Galligan and
Angela Goggin launched with a 21-19 win in the opening set against South Florida's Julia Panko and Cornelia Crudu. However, they struggled to keep the advantage, dropping the subsequent sets 18-21, 11-15.
The 3s matchup had
Savanna Rogers and
Annika Huhtamaki of the 'Fish up against Morgan Anderson and Abigail Lagemann. Rogers and Huhtamaki put up a fight but were edged out in straight sets, 20-22, 15-21, as South Florida added to their lead.
On Court 4,
Maggie Cox and
Zoye Caroline were the heroes for PBA, clinching the team's only point. They battled past Sasha Pasloski and Isabella Almedia in a nail-biter, emerging victorious with scores of 24-22, 21-19.
In the No. 5 slot,
Sydney Corbett and
Cameron Ring faced off with Tereza Lajkebova and Kate Stewart. Corbett and Ring struggled to find their rhythm, dropping both sets 17-21, 15-21, rounding out the match with another point for South Florida.
Meanwhile, against Tampa, PBA (5-8) came up short against the University of Tampa (6-4), with a close 2-3 final score at the Tampa Beach Volleyball Complex. The Sailfish snagged wins in the No. 2 and No. 4 pairs but couldn't seal the overall match.
In the top flight,

Katelyn Nadeau of the 'Fish were defeated in straight sets by Tampa's Nevaeh Wolfe and Hailey Wolfe, 21-13, 21-13. The No. 2 pair,

Angela Goggin, put Palm Beach Atlantic on the board by taking down Tess Schrenger and Hailey Peterson, 22-20, 21-9.
At the No. 3 spot,

The No. 5 matchup went the distance, with
Maggie Cox and
Zoye Caroline of the Fish falling to Tampa's Taylor Bedinghaus and Logan Martin in a three-set thriller, 21-13, 15-21, 15-7.
The Sailfish will be back on the road next weekend for the Mercer Tournament where they will face Mercer and Huntington on Saturday followed by Wesleyan and UT Martin on Sunday.
