WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Palm Beach Atlantic University placed three players on the All-Sunshine State Conference men's basketball teams as postseason honors were announced, with senior guard
Preston Le Gassick earning first team all-SSC recognition,
Alvin Tumblin Jr. named to the second team and
Christian Kirkland selected to the SSC all-defensive team.
Le Gassick capped a standout season by averaging 19.0 points, 4.9 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from 3-point range and 74.2 percent from the free-throw line in 29 games. He led the Sailfish in scoring and assists, showcasing his all-around offensive impact and leadership throughout the year. Le Gassick is just the second PBA men's basketball player to earn first team All-SSC honors.
Tumblin Jr. anchored PBA's frontcourt with 12.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, shooting an efficient 63.9 percent from the field and averaging 0.8 assists, 0.9 blocks and 0.8 steals per outing. His interior presence and efficiency on both ends of the court were key components of the Sailfish's success during SSC play.
Kirkland's selection to the SSC All-Defensive Team highlighted his disruptive play on that end of the floor. The senior guard/forward finished the season averaging 7.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 blocks per game, contributing 29 steals and consistently guarding opponents' top scoring threats.
The Sailfish will host Florida Southern in the SSC semi-finals on Thursday at 7 p.m. PBA seeks its first trip to the SSC Championship game since 2016.
