Sailfish Split Weekend 2-2 with a Win Over Wingate and a Loss to Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic split the weekend at 2-2 as they wrapped up the Jacksonville Invitational with two matches.

To start the day they dominated Wingate University on Saturday with a sweeping 5-0 victory, showcasing their prowess by clinching all five matches.

Leading the charge, Katie Galligan and Angela Goggin set the tone for PBA in the top flight, overpowering the Bulldogs' LiLou Thieme and Kate Beezer in straight sets, 21-12, 21-9, to put the first point on the board.

The momentum continued with the 2s as Maddie Kremer and Katelyn Nadeau notched another point for the 'Fish, outplaying Ella Harm and Naomi Hillard, 21-11, 21-16. The 3s delivered an edge-of-your-seat performance with Savanna Rogers and Sydney Corbett battling back after dropping the first set 18-21, to take the next two sets 21-18, 23-21, and snatch the win in a thrilling finish.

Peyton Baro and Cameron Ring kept the Sailfish momentum rolling with a straight-sets triumph over Wingate's Lily Delemielluere and Ashlyn Buck, 21-15, 21-10. The 5s sealed the deal with Maggie Cox and Zoye Caroline overpowering Riley Key and Ragan Ball, 21-11, 21-7, completing the sweep for the 'Fish.

As for their rematch against Jacksonville, Palm Beach Atlantic faced a challenging matchup, ending with a 1-4 loss. The 'Fish managed to snag a hard-fought victory in the third match.

In the top flight, Katie Galligan and Angela Goggin of PBA took on Claire Mrukowski and Megan Hair from Jacksonville. The match wrapped up in straight sets, with Jacksonville coming out on top 21-15, 21-19.

The 2s were a nail-biter, with Maddie Kremer and Katelyn Nadeau battling for the 'Fish against Meredith Mrukowski and Avery Kliethermes. It was a marathon match, with Jacksonville edging out the win in the third set, 17-21, 21-16, 15-13.

On Court 3, Sydney Corbett and Cameron Ring delivered for the Sailfish, putting a point on the board. They rallied to defeat Jamie Seward and Kyelynn Swink of Jacksonville in three sets, 13-21, 21-15, 15-10.

The 4s match saw Peyton Baro and Savanna Rogers of the 'Fish face off against Morgan Perry and Kate Taylor from Jacksonville. Jacksonville took control, winning in straight sets, 21-13, 21-8.

In the No. 5 spot, Maggie Cox and Zoye Caroline from the Sailfish went head-to-head with Maddie Fielder and Katie Martinez. Jacksonville claimed the win after a competitive third set, 17-21, 21-15, 15-10.

The Sailfish will be back in action at home on Saturday for the first time since Valentine's Day as they take on Barry.
