Sailfish Conclude a Perfect Weekend With a Clean Sweep

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - PBA showcased their strength with an impressive clean sweep over the weekend.

First today, sweeping Florida Southern (13-6), 5-0. The Sailfish took charge, winning all five matches and demonstrating their dominance on the court.

In the top flight, Katie Galligan and Angela Goggin led the way for PBA, overcoming Florida Southern's Sydney Melcher and Ryla Bryant in a thrilling three-set battle, finishing 21-13, 19-21, 15-9. Over in the 2s, Maddie Kremer and Savanna Rogers added to the 'Fish tally with a straight-sets victory, 21-16, 21-10, against Ella Pringle and Lauren Passaglia.

The 3s match was a nail-biter, as Sydney Corbett and Katelyn Nadeau of PBA edged out Hailey Carefoot and Sarah Idler in three sets, 19-21, 21-18, 15-10. Meanwhile, on Court 4, Maggie Cox and Zoye Caroline battled through another three-setter, defeating Isabella Muti and Mary Olivia Muti, 21-12, 19-21, 15-11.

Wrapping it up in the 5s, Peyton Baro and Cameron Ring clinched the final point for the Sailfish, outlasting Lily Schlageter and Victoria Rushing in a tight match, 26-28, 21-14, 15-13.

Later in the afternoon the 'Fish pulled off a thrilling 3-2 win over Lindenwood in a neutral-site clash on Saturday. The 'Fish locked in the victory with strong performances from their No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 pairs, each stepping up to secure their matches.

The No. 5 duo, Peyton Baro and Cameron Ring, got the ball rolling for the Sailfish, dispatching Myah Hough and Kaelyn Putz in straight sets, 21-16, 21-19. This opening win set the pace for PBA.

Maggie Cox and Zoye Caroline, playing in the No. 4 spot, delivered another point for the 'Fish, overcoming Lexie Schauffler and Katie Bockhorst with a 21-19, 21-13 victory. Their efforts extended the lead for the Sailfish.

The No. 3 matchup turned into a nail-biter, with Sydney Corbett and Katelyn Nadeau clinching the dual for PBA in a gritty three-set battle against Aubrey Sheppard and Gabby Belcher, winning 16-21, 21-18, 15-8. Their win secured the all-important third point.

In the top flight, Katie Galligan and Angela Goggin faced a tough three-setter against Nyah Wilson and Susanna Beretti, narrowly falling 21-12, 17-21, 14-16. Meanwhile, at No. 2, Maddie Kremer and Savanna Rogers were edged out by Abby Jacobs and Annalie McWhorter, 15-21, 17-21.

The 'Fish will be back in action next weekend as they travel to Jacksonville to compete in the Jacksonville Invitational, where they will face off against Lake Sumter State, Wingate, and Jacksonville University.
