Sailfish Compete Hard Against Boise State and Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON, Fla. — The 'Fish faced a tough challenge on Saturday, as Palm Beach Atlantic fell to Boise State 1-4 and FAU 1-4 in a competitive battle at the FAU Beach Volleyball Complex.

The Sailfish secured their only victory in the No. 5 match against Boise State.

In the No. 4 spot, Sofia Augusto and Annika Huhtamaki took on Charlee Ellena and Keira Demirjian of Boise State. The match ended in straight sets, with Ellena and Demirjian winning 21-16, 21-13, putting Boise State ahead early in the dual.

On the 2s court, Katie Galligan and Angela Goggin faced off against Serena van der Made and Allyson Alden. The Boise State duo added another point with a straight-sets victory, 21-10, 21-10.

The Sailfish shone in the 5s, where Maggie Cox and Zoye Caroline brought home a point. They defeated Elli Wolthuis and Lily Patock in straight sets, 21-16, 22-20, securing PBA's sole point in the dual.

The top flight featured an intense three-set showdown between Maddie Kremer and Katelyn Nadeau of PBA, and Addison Wolden and Ava Anderson from Boise State. The Boise State pair clinched the match in a thrilling third set, 28-26, 15-21, 15-10, after a hard-fought first set that went to extra points.

As for FAU, PBA's shining moment came in the No. 2 match.

In the No. 5 spot, Sofia Augusto and Annika Huhtamaki of the 'Fish went up against Florida Atlantic's Cameron Knifton and Allison Spittal. The match concluded in straight sets, 21-13 and 21-10, giving the home team its first point.

Over on Court 4, Maggie Cox and Zoye Caroline from PBA couldn't clinch a set against Klaire VanDeusen and Mia Scanlon, with Florida Atlantic taking the match 21-18, 21-19, adding another point to their tally.

In the top flight, Maddie Kremer and Katelyn Nadeau of Palm Beach Atlantic battled but fell to Denisse Morgenstern and Shantel Starling. The Florida Atlantic pair secured the win with scores of 21-12 and 21-16.

After the decision was sealed, the No. 3s match saw Sydney Corbett and Cameron Ring of the Sailfish facing Florida Atlantic's Olivia Strandberg and Ava Koehl, ending 21-16, 21-18 in favor of the hosts. However, in the 2s, Katie Galligan and Angela Goggin delivered PBA's sole point, defeating Reese Edwards and Kendall Mignerey in a thrilling three-set match, 19-21, 21-15, 16-14.

The Sailfish will be back on the road at Florida International where they will face-off against Palm Beach State and FIU on Saturday.
