WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Palm Beach Atlantic University men's basketball team is ranked No. 16 in this week's NABC Top 25 poll, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Sailfish went 1-1 last week, falling on the road by one point at Florida Tech before responding with a home victory over Eckerd College on Saturday.
PBA continues to hold a spot in the national rankings as it moves through the heart of Sunshine State Conference play. The Sailfish have remained a fixture in the Top 25 throughout the season, bolstered by a balanced offensive attack and a defense that has limited opponents consistently.
The 'Fish lead the SSC in opponent's points per game. The Sailfish have held teams to under 40 percent from the field nearly all season. Offensively, the 'Fish shoot 49 percent from the field, the second-best mark in the league. As a team, PBA leads the league in defensive rebounding, and is second in assist-to-turnover ratio.
Preston Le Gassick is fifth in the league, averaging 18.6 points per game and tied for second with 4.8 assists per game. He was named to the Bevo Francis Top-50 Watch List.
Alvin Tumblin Jr. sits second in the league in efficiency, shooting 64 percent from the field.
After splitting last week's contests, PBA will look to build momentum heading into another conference road test. The Sailfish travel to face Rollins College on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
