ST LEO, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball team dominated the court in a commanding 83-61 victory over Saint Leo University on Saturday night at the Marion Bowman Center. With this win, the Sailfish improved to 20-3 overall and 12-3 in the Sunshine State Conference.
The 12th-ranked 'Fish owned the glass, collecting a season-high 54 rebounds, including 15 on the offensive end, which fueled their impressive 40 points in the paint.
Leading the charge was
Graham Worland, who notched 18 points with four 3-pointers, and dished out a season-high six assists.
Alvin Tumblin Jr. also shined with 16 points and six rebounds, contributing on both ends of the floor.
Blake Wilson added 13 points and seven rebounds, marking his third consecutive game with at least 13 points and 7 boards.
Preston Le Gassick orchestrated the offense with five assists and matched his teammates with five rebounds.
The 'Fish set the tone early in the first half with an assertive offensive approach. Tumblin's free throw and layup tied the game, showcasing the team's tenacity. Worland drained a key three-pointer, keeping pace with the Lions.
As the half progressed, the Sailfish took advantage of Saint Leo's turnovers, accelerating the tempo with fast-break plays. Le Gassick's layup and
Tyler Burton's sharp shooting from deep helped extend the lead. The 'Fish wrapped up the half with strong defensive plays, including a block by Tumblin Jr. and a fast-break finish by Wilson, leading 40–28.
Kicking off the second half, PBA quickly extended its lead to 42-30 with an early jumper by Worland. Le Gassick continued to facilitate with precision, setting up Tumblin for a layup and
Christian Kirkland for a basket off a steal. The Sailfish maintained their edge with efficient shooting and solid defensive rebounding, relinquishing only 12 second-chance points while hauling in 28 total rebounds.
Worland kept the momentum rolling with a 3-pointer during a decisive 16-4 run, pushing the lead to 56-36.
Kollin Claridy added a spark off the bench with a season-high 10 points, including a three-pointer assisted by Worland. Consistent defensive pressure kept the Lions at bay, holding SLU to 35 percent shooting from the field.
As the game wound down, Wilson sealed the deal with a layup and a three-pointer, finalizing the score at 83-61 in favor of the Sailfish. Outscoring SLU 43-33 in the second half, PBA secured a dominant win.Â
