WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball guard
Anabel Ellison was named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, following a standout two-game conference stretch.
Ellison anchored the Sailfish defense in a pair of SSC games against Embry-Riddle and Saint Leo, averaging 4.0 steals per game while consistently disrupting opposing offenses from the perimeter. She totaled eight steals, added a block, and helped limit transition opportunities throughout the week.
In the road game at Embry-Riddle, Ellison recorded three steals and a block, applying pressure at the point of attack and forcing key turnovers. She followed with a dominant defensive showing against Saint Leo, finishing with five steals, repeatedly jumping passing lanes and igniting fast-break opportunities.
Ellison's impact extended beyond the defensive end of the floor. She scored 24 points with three 3-pointers and four assists against ERAU along with 23 points, six rebounds, and four assists against Saint Leo.
The honor marks Ellison's first SSC Defensive Player of the Week award of the season and fourth of her career.
