WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic University has announced Wednesday that
Craig Watson will not be returning to coach the Palm Beach Atlantic University men's golf team.
"I want to thank Craig for his service and dedication to Sailfish golf," PBA Director of Athletics
Courtney Lovely Evans said. "The program has achieved new heights under his leadership in recent years, including our department's first Division II national championship. I wish him and his family the best moving forward."
Watson was appointed to lead the men's and women's golf programs at Palm Beach Atlantic University on January 15, 2013. He led the reinstatement of the men's golf program and established the first-ever women's golf program at PBA. He coached both programs until the 2023-24 school year, when he shifted to coaching only the men's team.
The program has reached a new level under Watson in recent years. This season, the men's team earned its first team berth in the NCAA South/Southeast regional tournament, where the team finished one stroke away from earning a team berth in the national tournament.
Watson's biggest highlight in his tenure came in 2023 when he coached Andrew Riley to an NCAA South/Southeast Regional and NCAA National Championship. The feat marks the first NCAA DII National Championship in the department's history.
At PBA, Watson totaled six all-SSC honorees and 1 PING First Team All-American. The Sailfish have notched four tournament wins, including three first-place finishes in the last two seasons.
PBA will conduct a national search for its next men's golf coach immediately.
