HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's golf team wrapped up competition at the NCAA Super Region tournament on Saturday.
After marking their first team appearance in program history at the NCAA Regionals, the Sailfish shot one under par on back-to-back days to secure a ninth-place finish. PBA was eight-over-par after day one, seeing them in a tie for 15
th place. Diligence and mental toughness saw PBA fight to a ninth-place finish.
Nick Estrada led the way for the Sailfish, finishing in a tie for 19
th place. He opened the tournament with a 72 (E) in round one followed by a 68 (-4) in round two to sit in sixth place. Tough conditions saw Estrada drop, but not before recording three birdies during round three.
Following suit,
Jordan Verge climbed the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 46
th place. He was seen shooting a 76-71-73 with a total of eight birdies on the week.
Raines Holmes was the third finisher for PBA, seeing him finish in a tie for 55
th. Holmes shot a 76-72-74 with six birdies on the week to help pave the way for PBA.
Justus Verge finished in a tie for 68
th place after shooting a 72-84-68. His final day of play helped the Sailfish climb up the leaderboard, tallying five birdies through round three.
Niko Karoutsos rounded it out for the Sailfish, finishing in a tie for 82
nd. Karoutsos worked diligently through round three, recording three birdies to propel the Sailfish through the back half.
Although the season comes to an end, the Sailfish men's golf program will look to build off its historic season under head coach
Craig Watson.
