ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic beach volleyball team traveled for their final weekend of road competition, seeing them at the Eckerd Battle of the Bay. PBA was seen facing Missouri State and Tampa on day one, finishing with a split on the day (3-2, 4-1).
Palm Beach Atlantic will close the Eckerd Battle of the Bay tomorrow, March 29. PBA will face USF at 10:30 a.m. in an exhibition followed by Eckerd at 4:30 p.m.
MATCH 1 | PBA: 3, MSU: 2
In their first match of the day, the 'Fish were matched up with Missouri State. In the No. 1 position,
Serena Baumgart and
Anna Dunbar battled through three sits but fell short with scores of 21-18, 21-17, and 15-11. The No. 2 pair featured
Camdyn Albrecht and
Katelyn Nadeau, seeing them even the match at 1-1 after posting scores of 21-19 and 21-15 to take down their opponent. The No. 3 flight was comprised of
Annika Huhtamaki and
Abby Plevin who were challenged, but able to secure the sets with scores of 21-17 and 21-18 to propel PBA to a 2-1 lead.
In the No. 4 position,
Sydney Corbett and
Savannah DeCarlo secured the victory for the Sailfish after posting scores of 21-17 and 25-23. Rounding out for the Sailfish, the No. 5 pair was comprised of
Angela Goggin and
Cameron Ring. The pair were seen dropping the match with scores of 21-10 and 21-10 but still collected the 3-2 victory over Missouri State.

In their final match of the day, the Sailfish went head-to-head with the Spartans. In the No. 1 position, Baumgart and Dunbar fell short of the mark with scores of 21-14 and 22-20. The No. 2 pair featured Albrecht and Nadeau, seeing them rally together but were unable to secure the match and posted scores of 21-13 and 21-15. The No. 3 flight was comprised of Huhtamaki and Plevin who challenged their opponents but posted scores of 22-20 and 21-14.
In the No. 4 position, Corbett and DeCarlo got the lone victory for the Sailfish with scores of 21-15 and 21-15. Rounding out for the Sailfish, the No. 5 pair was comprised of Goggin and
Zoye Caroline. The pair were seen fighting with diligence but fell short with scores of 21-19 and 21-13.
