Beach Volleyball Sweeps Day 1 of PBA Invitational

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic beach volleyball team spent the end of their Spring Break hosting the PBA Invitational inside the Sailfish Beach Volleyball Courts. On day one of the Invitational, the Sailfish were seen marking the sweep with victories over Lake Sumter State College and Wingate University (5-0, 5-0).

Palm Beach Atlantic will remain at the Sailfish Beach Volleyball Courts for day two of the PBA Invitational. They will face Emmanuel at 11:00 a.m. (EST) followed by Barry at 5:00 p.m. (EST).

MATCH 1 | PBA: 5, LSSC: 0
The Sailfish opened their dominating start to the PBA Invitational by blanking LSSC 5-0. In the first flight, Anna Dunbar and Serena Baumgart bested their opponent with scores of 21-11 and 21-14. The No. 2 pair followed, Camdyn Albrecht and Katelyn Nadeau, with scores of 21-10 and 21-8. With a 2-0 lead, the Sailfish saw the No. 3 pairing (Sydney Corbett and Savannah DeCarlo) dominate their opponents with scores of 21-8 and 21-8.

The fourth flight featured Abby Plevin and Abbie Zylstra continuing the Sailfish dominating run with scores of 21-10 and 21-7. PBA's Zoye Caroline and Angela Goggin confirmed the 5-0 sweep over LSSC by marking scores of 21-6 and 21-8 over their opponent. 

MATCH 2 | PBA: 5, WU: 0
PBA carried their offensive momentum into their second match of the day against Wingate. Dunbar and Baumgart held strong in the first flight, opening the match by besting their opponent 21-15 and 21-11. The No. 2 pair followed, Albrecht and Nadeau, notching scores of 21-9 and 21-5 to best their opponents. Plevin and Annika Huhtamaki carried the No. 3 pair to a 3-0 lead after defeating their opponent, 21-17 and 21-11. 

The fourth flight featured Corbett and DeCarlo marking scores of 21-7 and 21-13 over their opponent, putting the match out of reach for Wingate. Caroline and Goggin confirmed PBA's second 5-0 sweep of the day by marking scores of 21-8 and 21-12 over their opponent.
