Sailfish Mark Clean Sweep at PBA Invitational

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic beach volleyball team closed out their Spring Break with the final day of the PBA Invitational at the Sailfish Beach Volleyball Courts. The Sailfish were seen with the clean sweep on the weekend after marking victories against Emmanuel University and Barry College (5-0, 5-0). 

Palm Beach Atlantic will travel to face Florida Gulf Coast and Florida Southern in a tri-match on Wednesday, March 19 in Fort Myers, Fla. Match one against FGCU is set for 10:00 a.m. (EST) followed by match two against FSC at 12:00 p.m. (EST).

MATCH 1 | PBA: 5, EU: 0
The Sailfish opened day two of the PBA Invitational by defeating the Lions 5-0. In the first flight, Anna Dunbar and Serena Baumgart bested their opponent with scores of 21-15 and 21-16. The No. 2 pair followed, Camdyn Albrecht and Katelyn Nadeau, with scores of 21-11 and 21-9. Holding a 2-0 lead, the Sailfish saw the No. 3 pairing (Sydney Corbett and Savannah DeCarlo) stomp their opponents with scores of 21-14 and 21-9.

The fourth flight featured Abby Plevin and Abbie Zylstra continuing the Sailfish dominating run with scores of 21-15 and 21-16. PBA's Zoye Caroline and Angela Goggin confirmed the 5-0 sweep over Emmanuel by marking scores of 21-13 and 21-16 over their opponent. 

MATCH 2 | PBA: 5, BC: 0
PBA closed out the PBA Invitational with their second match of the day against Barry. Dunbar and Baumgart held strong in the first flight, opening the match by besting their opponent 21-17 and 21-9. The No. 2 pair followed, Albrecht and Nadeau, notching scores of 21-10 and 21-9 to dominate their opponents. Plevin and Annika Huhtamaki carried the No. 3 pair to a 3-0 PBA lead after defeating their opponent, 21-10 and 21-5. 

The fourth flight featured Corbett and DeCarlo marking scores of 21-6 and 21-8 over their opponent, sending the Sailfish ahead with a 4-0 advantage. Caroline and Goggin confirmed PBA's second 5-0 sweep of the day, and fourth of the weekend, by marking scores of 21-11 and 21-20 over their opponent.
