LAKELAND, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic Beach Volleyball team traveled for a weekend tri-match against Florida Southern College and Saint Leo University. PBA was seen defeated its competition for the second consecutive weekend, raising them to five straight wins this season.
Palm Beach Atlantic will be back in action next Saturday, February 28 as they travel to Miami, Fla. for the FIU Invitational. The 'Fish will face NCAA DI schools, Southern Mississippi, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, and Utah.
MATCH 1 | PBA: 4, FSC: 1
The Sailfish worked diligently to record the 4-1 victory against the Mocs, opening with Anna Dunbar and Serena Baumgart in the No. 1 position. Dunbar and Baumgart outscored their opponent 21-19 and 21-14. Following in the No. 2 flight, Camdyn Albrecht and Katelyn Nadeau posted scores of 21-17 and 21-16 to best their opponents.
In the No. 4 flight, Sydney Corbett and Savannah DeCarlo secured the first set with a score of 21-15. In their second set, they put up a fight to secure the 22-20 victory and elevate PBA to a 4-0 lead. In the final flight of the match, Desi Waterman and Angela Goggin worked through three tough sets to secure the victory. After dropping the first set, the pair worked from behind to post a 21-13 and 15-11 score in the final two sets to secure the 'Fish sweep over the Mocs.
MATCH 2 | PBA: 5, SLU: 0
In their second match of the day, PBA faced a tough SLU lineup but was still able to get the sweep. In the No. 1 position, Dunbar and Baumgart went a lengthy three sets after dropping their first set. The pair battled back to post 21-16 and 15-6 victories to secure the 1-0 lead for the 'Fish. Following in the No. 2 flight, Albrecht and Nadeau dominated the day with scores of 21-17 and 21-19 to elevate PBA to 2-0. The No. 3 pair saw Corbett and DeCarlo fight through three sets after dropping their second set. A close-knit 15-13 third set victory elevated PBA past SLU, 3-0.
In the No. 4 flight, Annika Huhtamaki and Zoye Caroline notched their first win of the day after posting 21-16 and 21-18 scores against their opponents. In the final flight of the match, Waterman and Goggin worked quickly to record a 21-16 and 21-14 victory against their opponent to secure the Sailfish sweep over the Lions.
