WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball team swept the Sunshine State Conference weekly men's basketball honors following its signature win over No. 1 ranked Nova Southeastern, as
Preston Le Gassick was named SSC Player of the Week and
Christian Kirkland earned SSC Defensive Player of the Week recognition, the league announced Monday.
Le Gassick powered Palm Beach Atlantic to an 88–83 victory with a game-high 22 points, shooting 7-of-13 from the field and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. He added two rebounds, four assists and two steals in 31 minutes, providing consistent scoring and playmaking in a contest that featured 21 lead changes. His efficiency and versatility were key as the Sailfish shot better than 53 percent from the floor against the nation's top-ranked opponent.
Kirkland anchored the Sailfish defense with a dominant all-around effort, finishing with seven rebounds, four blocks and two steals in 23 minutes. His activity disrupted passing lanes, limited second-chance opportunities and helped force several turnovers, turning defense into offense throughout the game. Kirkland's ability to guard multiple positions proved critical in slowing Nova Southeastern during pivotal stretches.
The dual honors underscore a complete team performance as Palm Beach Atlantic now boasts a 10-0 record with a 4-0 record in Sunshine State Conference play. PBA hosts the Holiday Hoops Classic on Thursday and Friday this week with games against American International and South Florida Bible College.
