Five Softball Players Earn CSC Academic All-District Status

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic softball team had five softball players earn Academic All-District status from College Sports Communicators. Elisa Grande, Larken Maseda, Madison Schlichte, Rhiannon Sibbett, and Ashlyn Storms earned the award for their efforts on the field and in the classroom.

To be eligible, the student-athlete must meet athletic benchmarks. Position players will remain with the 90% played in or 66% started like the fall contests. For pitchers, eligible nominees need to pitch 25-plus innings or appear in 17 games as a pitcher. Academically, the student must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, posting a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better.

Grande recently finished her time with the Sailfish. She graduates PBA with a degree in Exercise Science with a Pre-Physical Therapy Concentration. Grande played in 36 games this season, splitting time as a catcher, outfielder, and third base. She led the team with three triples, totaling 12 runs, seven RBIs, and seven stolen bases.

Maseda played all 41 games for PBA in her sophomore season. She recorded a .252 batting average with 11 RBIs, six doubles, and a team-high eight stolen bases. She is working on her degree in Philosophy, Politics & Economics.

Sibbett started 34 games this season as PBA's primary centerfielder. She totaled 17 hits and nine runs scored. She majors in Biology-Pre Health Prep.

Madison Schlichte is also majoring in Exercise Science with a Pre-Physical Therapy Concentration. She just finished her sophomore season with the Sailfish, playing 35 games with 34 starts.

Ashlyn Storms finished her sophomore year, majoring in Business Administration. She appeared in 13 games, including six starts in the circle. She finished the season with a 4.71 ERA.
