Sailfish Cruise to Sweeps Over Webber and Warner

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic beach volleyball team hit the courts for the second time this season as they hosted Webber International and Warner today. The Sailfish were dominant against both opponents as they swept the Warriors and Royals 5-0. PBA's record moves to 3-0 early in the year with the victories.

Match 1: PBA - 5 | WIU - 0
The Sailfish hosted the Webber International Warriors to start off the day and they had no problem with their visitors as they won every match in straight sets. Anna Dunbar and Gabriella Aziz took over as the No. 1 pair today and were victorious together 21-17, 21-11. Eva Herz and Lola Ackman took their spot as the No. 2 pair and after an extended 24-22 opening set, the PBA tandem took the second 21-11. Karla Cantero and Abigail Mason have long been partners as they played in the No. 3 spot today and used their experience to pull out two close sets 21-19, 21-18. Julia Golichowski and Julia Norville looked good together in the No. 4 match as they won 21-13, 21-15 while newcomers Katelyn Nadeau and Abby Plevin blew out their opponents at No. 5 21-7, 21-8.

Match 2: PBA - 5 | WU - 0
The 'Fish rolled straight into their second match of the day as they got their second sweep of the day against the Royals. Aziz and Dunbar dropped their opening set but they responded to their first bit of adversity as they took the second 21-11 and the third 15-13. Herz and Ackman came out on top in two close sets at the No. 2 match as they won both sets 21-17. Mason and Cantero move their record as a tandem to 3-0 on the year as they won the No. 3 match 22-20, 21-11. Nadeau and Plevin jumped up a spot to the No. 4 spot and won a second match impressively on the day 21-10, 21-12. Team Julia played as the No. 5 flight as Golichowski and Norville took down their opponents 21-17, 21-11.

The Sailfish are off for a week before they hit the road for their real first test of the season. After opening against NAIA and JUCO opponents, the Sailfish will face four Division I opponents on Feb. 24-25 at a tournament hosted by Jacksonville University.
