MELBOURNE, Fla.- Kash Ayuso was named the women's basketball defensive player of the week in the Sunshine State Conference on Monday morning.  

Ayuso averaged 4.0 steals, 4.0 defensive rebounds, and 1.5 blocks over two games against Barry and Lynn last week. In a 66-59 win over Barry, Kash had four steals, three blocks, and three rebounds. On Saturday's loss to Lynn, Ayuso had four steals and five rebounds.  

Over the two games, Ayuso had 39 points, 10 assists, and five offensive boards on the offensive side of the ball. 

Ayuso has been honored two weeks in a row by the conference, taking home the player of the week award last week for her offensive performances in wins over Georgian Court and Shaw. This is the fifth weekly SSC award of her career.  

Kash and The Sailfish return to action next Wednesday at noon in an exhibition against Fort Lauderdale.
