LAKELAND, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic beach volleyball team returned to action this afternoon as they took on Lake Sumter and Florida Southern. The Sailfish took out both sides in a clean sweep as they defeated Lake Sumter 5-0 before sweeping the hosting Mocs 5-0. The Sailfish move to 15-12 on the season after the two victories.
Match 1: PBA - 5 | Lake Sumter - 0Â
The Sailfish pulled off the easy victory today as they took down the Hawks 5-0. PBA won every match in straight sets to open the day, starting with
Lunden Evans and
Mya Krystosek winning the No. 1 match 21-11, 21-13. The 'Fish won the No. 2 match as
Ashleigh Holweger and
Rebekah Machovec came out on top 21-16, 21-11 and
Natalie Skopalova and
Savannah DeCarlo took the No. 3 match 21-13, 21-12.
Gabriella Aziz and
Marilyn Cesaro pulled out the first set 21-19 and took the second 21-10 followed by
Julia Golichowski and
Karla Cantero winning the No. 5 match easily 21-14, 21-9.
Match 2: PBA - 5 | Florida Southern - 0
PBA took down the Mocs for the fifth time this season as they defeated Florida Southern 5-0 in their meeting today. The Evans and Krystosek tandem won easily 21-14, 21-7 at the No. 1 match and Skopalvoa and DeCarlo moved up to take the No. 2 match 21-7, 21-8. Aziz and Cesaro were pushed to three sets in the No. 3 match after dropping the first 21-17, they came back to take the second and third 21-8, 15-11.
Abigail Mason and
Sydney Wagner teamed up to play No. 4 and were victorious 21-13, 21-16 whileÂ
Kayleigh Hall and
Eva Herz complete the sweep 21-13, 21-16.
The Sailfish return home for senior day on April 11 as they take on Palm Beach State and Webber International in their final tri-match of the season. Following that match, the Sailfish will turn their attention to postseason play at the AVCA Small College Championship.
