TAVARES, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic beach volleyball team continued play at the AVCA Small College Championships today. The Sailfish faced off against Tampa in the semifinals of the tournament but fell 3-2 before falling by the same score against Concordia in the third-place match. PBA finishes the season with a 20-14 record.

Match 1: PBA - 2 | UT - 3

The Sailfish faced off with one of their biggest rivals in the final four of the AVCA Tournament as the sides met for the third time this season. Unfortunately for the Sailfish, the result today was the same as the other two meetings as PBA fell 3-2. Lunden Evans suffered her first career defeat at the event as she and partner Mya Krystosek fell in the No. 1 match 21-13, 21-18. Ashleigh Holweger and Rebekah Machovec played an extended first set but came out on the wrong end 29-27 and then dropped the second set 21-12. The 'Fish got on the board as Gabriella Aziz and Savannah DeCarlo prevailed in a three-setter 21-14,13-21,15-11. PBA evened up the match as Abigail Mason and Sydney Wagner took their No. 5 match 21-18, 21-19. The Spartans won the match by winning the No. 4 position as PBA's Natalie Skopalova and Julia Golichowski went down 21-11, 21-18.

Match 2: PBA - 2 | CUI - 3

The Sailfish still had the opportunity to play for third place at the tournament, but the Sailfish fell in one of their closest matches of the season. Evans and Krystosek played an epic extended opening set but came up on the wrong side losing 32-30 and 22-20 in the second. The tandem finishes the year with a 13-9 record playing together. PBA got their first point as Holweger and Machovec won easiest at the No. 2 position 21-12, 21-15 to take their record to 13-8 on the season as a pair. Aziz and DeCarlo fell in a close No. 3 position match 22-20, 22-20 to fall to 16-6 on the season. Mason and Wagner came out on top for the 'Fish in the No. 5 match to even the score at 2-2 after winning 21-19, 23-2. Golichowski and Skopalova move to 12-8 on the season as they went down in a three-setter 15-21, 21-14, 15-12 as the Eagles claimed the match.

The Sailfish finish the year with their second straight 20-win season. The Sailfish return the majority of their roster next season as they expect to lose just three seniors and will look for an improved finish at the AVCA Championships next season.
