BOCA RATON, Fla- The Palm Beach Atlantic beach volleyball team competed against No. 10 FAU and Saint Leo at the FAU Owls Tournament on Friday. The Sailfish dropped their match against the No. 10 Owls 5-0 before they bounced back with a 5-0 sweep over Saint Leo.
Match 1: PBA 0 | FAU 5
The Sailfish faced a tough division I opponent in No. 10 FAU. The number 2 position of
Lyndzey Minter and
Abby DeVido fell 21-12, 21-15.
Gabriella Aziz and
Emma Vann took their match to three sets but lost 19-21, 21-17, 15-13. PBA's No. 1 tandem of
Jazz Schmidt and
Lunden Evans fell 21-9, 21-15.
Olivia Finckel and
Abigail Mason dropped their match 21-14, 21-19.
Lorrayne Silva and
Caroline Henderson were downed 21-9, 24-2.
Match 2: PBA 5 | SLU 0
The Sailfish picked up their third win over Saint Leo this season with a 5-0 sweep. At the No. 4 position Aziz and Vann started the dominant effort with a 21-17, 21-14 victory. Schmidt and
Bailey Myott took the No. 2 match 21-19, 21-16. The PBA pair of Finckel and Mason won the No. 5 match 21-16, 21-15. The tandem of
Julia Golichowski and
Karla Cantero picked up a 23-21, 21-19 victory at No. 3. The Sailfish duo of Minter and DeVido completed the sweep with a three-set match. The Sailfish duo picked up their sixteenth victory of the year 17-21, 21-16, 15-11.
Next, the Sailfish face No. 20 Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday Apr. 9 in Fort Meyers.
