TAMPA, Fla- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team lost to the Tampa Spartans 6-1 in Tampa. The Sailfish (1-4) fell to 0-2 in Sunshine State Conference play. 

The 'Fish got swept in doubles competition. The group of Elvira Edstrom and Anabelle Robichaud lost 6-3 to Ekaterina Grib and Savannah Williams. Alessia Passerini and Jasmine Williams dropped their match against Anine Wilberg and Maria Khomchenko 6-1. The closest doubles match for the 'Fish came from the tandem of Verena Weindl and Cecilia Peroni. They fell to the pair of Dakota Bush and Maeva Roqueberta 7-5. 

In singles competition, Robichaud dropped her match to Khomchencko 6-1, 6-1. Weindl fell to Roqueberta in two sets 6-1, 6-0. Edstrom lost her match to Grib 6-0, 6-2. Passerini faced Savannah Williams in a tight two-set match. Ultimately Williams prevailed 6-4 in two consecutive sets. PBA's Jasmine Williams faced a grueling match against Busch. Williams won the first set 6-1 but dropped the second 6-2. Busch took the tiebreaker for the Spartans.  

The lone singles victory for the Sailfish came from freshman Cecilia Peroni. The Italian native dropped the first set 6-4. Peroni answered back as she won the second set 6-4. In the third set, Peroni completed the comeback and took the super tiebreaker 10-3 to win the match. 

The PBA women's tennis team takes on Lynn on Saturday, Mar. 5 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
