Box Score The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team defeated Southeaster 5-2 Thursday at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center. For PBA it's their first win of the season.
PBA swept the Fire in doubles competition. The tandem of
Courtney Page and
Verena Weindl defeated Beatrice Letiza and Irene Lopez 6-4. The pair of
Alessia Passerini and
Jasmine Williams beat Martina Picardi, and Priscila Baptista 6-3.
Frida Alsterhem and
Alisa Grachova defeated Neleah Neiberline 7-5.
In singles competition,
Elvira Edstrom fell to Picardi in two sets 6-3, 6-4. Weindl lost in two sets to Beatrice Letiza 6-4, 6-1. Passerini defeated Neiberline 6-4, 6-3.
Anabelle Robichaud needed a tiebreaker to beat Baptista. Robichaud won the first set 7-6, lost the second 6-3 and then won the tiebreaker 6-2.
Alisa Grachova defeated Abigail Damon 6-2, 6-1.
Jasmine Williams clinched the win for the 'Fish with a three set victory over Irene Lopez. After splitting the first two sets 6-3, 4-6, Williams took the third 6-3.
Up next the Sailfish hits the road to St. Leo for a Sunshine State Conference matchup on Saturday Feb. 12.
