WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team has released their schedule for the 2023 season. The Sailfish are looking to improve on their 16-34 record in 2022 and make a run at an NCAA tournament appearance.
Home field advantage is the theme for PBA this season, as they spend a large portion of this four-month season playing at J.M. "Jake" Rubin Park. The season opens up with a weekend slate of games. Georgia Southwestern State is the first team to roll into West Palm Beach for opening night on Feb. 3. The Sailfish take on Tusculum University the following day and close the weekend out against Lane College on Feb. 5. The 'Fish get their first taste of Sunshine State Conference action against powerhouse Tampa University in a three-game series starting on Feb. 24.
PBA will begin the month of March at home against Assumption University. They follow that game up with their first road conference matchup against Nova Southeastern on Mar. 3-4. After taking on Assumption again on Mar. 5, the 'Fish go up against American International in a four-day matchup on Mar. 10-13. After another home conference series against Eckerd on the 17th, PBA end the month of March with five games on the road, including two conference series against Lynn and Florida Southern.
April is highlighted by a slate of SSC series, including a road matchup against powerhouse Rollins College on Apr. 21-22. The Sailfish will end their season in May with a road conference series against Saint Leo on the 12th-13th.
The 'Fish are returning several key players from last year's squad. Pitchers
Chris Seymour, the team leader in strikeouts last year, has returned to the bullpen along with
Nick Adams,
Justin Lovell, and
Dan Beebe. The Sailfish are also returning IF/OF
Matty Warren, who was top ten on the team last season in hits with 52. The 'Fish will need his bat this season to help take down the competitive SSC Conference.
