3/10/2020 7:58:00 PM

MIAMI, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic beach volleyball team faced-off with their toughest opponent to date this season as they traveled to face the No. 13 ranked Florida International Panthers. The Sailfish fell to FIU 5-0 to drop their record to 8-2 on the year.

The Panthers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the match by winning the No. 4 and No. 5 flight matches convincingly. Gabriella Aziz and Kayleigh Hall dropped their match at the No. 4 position 21-9, 21-6, and the tandem of Emma Pieper and Jessica Noddell fell in straight sets 21-9, 21-14. Lyndzey Minter and Sydney Wagner were beaten 21-13, 21-12 at the No. 3 position. With the match in hand for the Panthers, the Sailfish No. 1 and No. 2 duos were unable to get PBA on the board, both falling in the same match for the first time this season. Jazz Schmidt and Lunden Evans fell at the No.1 position 21-13, 21-12 while Coleen Sieng and Ally Bottenfield were defeated 21-17, 21-17. The teams of Schimdt/Evans and Sieng/Bottenfield both now have a record of 7-3 after the defeats.

The Sailfish will get the opportunity to bounce back quickly as they will play Tusculum and Saint Leo on March 12 in St. Leo. The Pioneers are 2-4 on the season while the 'Fish defeated Saint Leo 3-2 earlier this year.
