PENSACOLA, Fla – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association South Region Tournament this weekend.
 
The highlight of the weekend for the Sailfish was the team of Rodolfo Hasegawa and Erik Carlsten, which made a run in the doubles' bracket. After winning their opening-round match, the duo pulled off the 8-4 upset against the No. 4 seed, Carlos Gomez and Alejandro Ibanez Gallego from Barry to advance to the quarterfinals. On Sunday, Hasegawa and Carlsten defeated Auburn-Montgomery's team to advance to the semi-finals. Unfortunately for the Sailfish, the pairs run came to an end in the semi-finals after losing 8-2 to Delta State.
 
In singles competition, Philipp Hoffmann made a run to the quarterfinals in the consolation bracket. In the opening round, Hoffmann defeated Alabama-Huntsville's James Caddies­ 3-6, 6-3, 10-5. That match was followed by a victory over West Alabama's Nuutti Jokinen, 6-3, 6-4. Hoffmann's run came to an end against Lee's Harcia-Gil, 6-4, 6-0.
