MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. –The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team played its final tournament of the fall this weekend at the Barry Bucs Invitational.
In the doubles A draw, the team of
Rodolfo Hasegawa and
Erik Carlsten picked up two wins on their way to a fifth-place finish. The duo defeated Keiser's Riccardo Ferraris and Anthony Popyrin 8-4, followed by a 9-8 win over the Seahawks' Linus Fiek and Gerard Rodriguez.
In singles competition, Carlsten picked up two wins, including a win over teammate
Jorge Santamaria (6-1, 6-3) in the semifinals, to earn a spot in the No. 3 flight championship round. He fell short to Barry's Tim Buttner, 6-2, 7-5. Santamaria went on to win third place in the flight over Anthony Popyrin, 2-6, 6-0, 13-11.
Umberto Rosi picked up a win in the No. 1 singles flight over Rodriguez (6-0, 7-6 (7)). He finished in fourth place after dropping his next two matches. The No. 2 flight resulted in an All-PBA fifth-place match as Hasegawa defeated Phillipp Hoffmann, 6-4, 7-6. In the No. 4 flight,
Michal Precikowski earned a spot in the fifth-place match, but it was rained out.
Sailfish tennis will return to competition in the spring.
