WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team competed at the College Tennis Clay Court Championships this past weekend.
The Sailfish came out on top in singles play in the Golden draw back Draw.
Yuliia Russu and
Elvira Edstrom met in the finals after picking up a win each. Edstrom was victorious in the battle of the Sailfish 4-3, 4-0.
Shelby Groeneveld made it to the semifinals of the Golden draw, but she was unable to finish her matches due to weather.
In the Navy draw,
Verena Weindl competed well. The sophomore picked up wins over Southeastern's Priscilla Baptista (4-6, 6-4, 10/2) and Ave Maria's Nadia Mangelsdorff (6-0, 6-0). She reached the semifinals, but was also unable to finish her matches.
Groeneveld and Russu made it to the finals of the doubles bracket after beating teams from St. Petersburg College and Ave Maria, but the duo was unable to play their championship match.
