LAKELAND, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team returned to action this past weekend for the ITA South Region Tournament, hosted by Florida Southern.
The Sailfish took four players to the singles and doubles tournament, returners Nicole Reich, Vanessa Buchbinder and Yuliia Russu and freshman Elvira Edstrom.
Buchbinder earned the only singles victory for the Sailfish at the tournament. After dropping her opening match 7-5, 6-3 to Barry's Julie Razafindralay she rebounded against UAH's Sarah Stearman, winning in three sets (4-6, 6-2, 10-3). Buchbinder fell to Embry-Riddle's Georgina Wood in the following round 6-3, 6-2.
The pairing of Buchbinder/Russu won the only doubles match of the tournament for the Sailfish, taking down AUM's Navarro/Enderink 8-4. The duo fell 8-2 in their next match to Barry's Schmid/Maciejewska.
Women's tennis will next play Southeastern in a scrimmage match on Oct. 5th.
