Sailfish Drop Mid-Week Game Against Barry

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic baseball dropped a non-conference game to Barry on Tuesday, as the Bucs scored early and used strong pitching performances to defeat the 'Fish 5-1.  The Sailfish fall to 18-15 with the mid-week loss while Barry improves to 14-19.

The Bucs struck first off Sailfish starting pitcher Orsen Josephina, taking a 1-0 lead after the first inning.  The Sailfish answered back in the third inning, as Jake Summey reached base on a hit-by-pitch, and came around to score on a Danny Tufariello single.

Barry responded in a big way however, homering twice in the fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead.

The Bucs added a run in the fifth inning off Kyle Polaski, extending their lead to four.

The Sailfish got two runners on base to lead off the eighth, as Summey reached via error and Ryan Johnson walked.  The Buccaneers got out of the jam to keep the score at 5-1 entering the ninth.

Tyler Hawks threw three scoreless innings out of the Sailfish bullpen to keep the game within striking distance for the 'Fish, as he allowed just one baserunner and struck out two batters.

The 'Fish were unable to score another run in the game, falling by the 5-1 final score, and collecting just four hits against the Buccaneers pitching staff.

Tufariello and Connor Rowland were responsible for all four hits Tuesday, as both Sailfish hitters went 2-for-4.

The Sailfish and Buccaneers will play a three-game conference series this weekend in West Palm Beach, Fla. with the first game set for Friday at 6 p.m. from J.M. "Jake" Rubin Park.
