Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis picked up a win in their first match during their trip to South Carolina, taking down Tiffin University 6-3.
The Sailfish were playing for the first time since Feb. 11 and snapped a three-match losing skid with the win over the Dragons. PBA found success in doubles play, sweeping all three matches and picking up wins at No. 1, 3, and 5 during singles play.
Three players – Pato Zarazua, Pietro de Silva and Carlos Niemeyer – were all winners in both singles play and doubles play. Zarazua got things started with a three-set win at No. 1 singles, taking down Luis Ludena 5-7, 6-3, 10-7. De Silva was a straight sets winner at No. 3, beating Elio Lezama 6-1, 7-5 while Niemeyer also needed three sets against Toby Cutting, winning 4-6, 6-4, 10-6.
In double splay Zarazua and de Silva teamed up at No. 1 to defeat Lezama and Ludena 8-5 while Niemeyer teaming with Bernardo Ferreira to win at No. 3, 8-3. Rodolfo Hasegawa and Thomas Salmon earned the victory at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, over Cutting and Nikita Parfenov.
PBA is back in action on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. for their second of four matches in South Carolina, taking on Chowan.
