WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – For the third time in four games the Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team needed extra innings to get the victory as the Sailfish walked off against Chestnut Hill 5-4 on Saturday afternoon.
PBA improves to 16-5 overall with the win and has won 10 straight. Riley Herold provided the heroics in the 12th as he doubled down the left field line to score Jake Summey. Herold finished the day with a pair of hits and a run scored.
The Sailfish trailed 4-1 after the top of the sixth but Danny Tufariello hit a three-run homer to left to tie the game and ultimately send it into extras. Tufariello finished the game with four RBI's after also knocking in Herold in the 2nd with a sacrifice fly.
PBA got solid pitching from their quintet of hurlers. Johnnie Schneider made the start and struck out three in four innings. Sean Horner went the next 5.1 and struck out eight but allowed three runs, only one earned. The final 2.2 innings the trio of Christian Denton, Blake Beyel and Justin Hernandez allowed just two hits with Beyel striking out two. Hernandez picked up the win, his first of the season.
A.J. Puigcerver had a multi-hit game for PBA as he got the start at third. The Sailfish finished the game with nine hits with Chestnut Hill collecting 10. The Griffins had plenty of chances throughout the game but left 19 men on base. PBA left eight on base.
The Sailfish close out their home stand on Wednesday as they host American International at 6 p.m. at J.M. "Jake" Rubin Park.
