Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team couldn't measure up to No. 4 Valdosta State on Friday, falling 8-1 to the Blazers.
The Sailfish picked up their lone victory of the day at No. 3 doubles as Pato Zarazua and Thomas Salmon were able to defeat Davis Stewart and Xavier Pineda in a tiebreak 9-8 (2). Zarazua was one of the top performers in singles play as well despite suffering the loss. The senior dropped the opening set 6-1 to Jordi Mas before forcing a tiebreak in the second before falling 7-6 (4).
Also in singles action Pietro de Silva was able to force a third set before eventually falling to Xavier Pineda 7-5, 6-7 (2), 10-5. Carlos Niemeyer had a good showing at No. 6 despite losing to Axel Holm 6-3, 6-4.
Things won't get any easier for the Sailfish as they take on No. 1 West Florida in Valdosta on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
