Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis dropped their second straight match this weekend, falling to No. 1 West Florida 8-1.
Despite the end result the Sailfish were highly competitive in both singles and doubles play on Saturday against the Argos. The lone win came at No. 3 doubles as Philipp Hoffmann and Carlose Niemeyer defeated Gerard Rodriguez and Robin Rafaitin 8-6.
At No. 2 doubles Pato Zarazua and Thomas Salmon were narrowly defeated, 9-7, by Nicholas Springer and Alfonso Castellano. In singles action it was Hoffmann – playing at No. 1 today – who took No. 7-ranked Serdar Bojadjiev to three sets before eventually falling 6-1, 6-7 (4), 6-1. At No. 2 Pato Zarazua played two extremely tight sets against No. 40 Nicolas Lecoutre before falling 7-6 (4), 7-5.
Carlos Niemeyer was also involved in two tight sets, falling at No. 5 to Juan Cabrera 6-3, 7-6 (3). Pietro de Silva battled tought with Lucas Sanchez at No. 3, eventually losing 6-4, 6-4.
The Sailfish close out the weekend on Sunday at 11 a.m. as they take on No. 11 Flagler in St. Augustine.
