MELBOURNE, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis closed out their fall schedule at the Suntree Slam over the weekend.

Four doubles teams competed for the Sailfish with Philipp Hoffmann and Carlos Niemeyer advancing to the quarterfinals. The duo were straight set winners over Luis Fernandes and Javaz Rolle in the opening match before being pushed to three sets in their second match. In that match the Sailfish duo dropped the first set 6-1 to Ricardo Corona and James Finnigan before battling back to take the second 6-3 and the third 10-8. In the quarterfinals Hoffmann and Niemeyer were overmatched by the number one seed Mirko Pehar and Goran Dragicevic 6-0, 6-1.

Bernardo Ferreira and Pietro De Silva were also able to win their first match of the tournament, 6-3, 6-2, over Kleanthis Zisis Tegos and Ivan Shapovalov before also falling to the top seeded duo of Pehar and Dragicevic.

After dropping their first match Thomas Salmon and Pato Zarazua made a run through the consolation bracket, winning four matches to take the consolation championship 7-6 (1) over Corona and Finnigan.

The event concludes the fall season for the Sailfish. PBA will be back in action in February for their championships season where they went 12-9 overall and 2-5 in the Sunshine State Conference a year ago.
