MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis wrapped up play at the Barry University Buccaneer Invitational on Sunday. The event featured singles and doubles play with players from Barry, ASA College and Keiser in addition to the Sailfish.
PBA found most of their success in doubles play with Pato Zarazua and Thomas Salmon advancing to the finals of the "A" draw. They defeated Martin Mendoza and Olivier Koeng from ASA 7-6 (7-1) in the first round before taking down Vivien Versier and Daniel Ventura from Barry 6-3 in the semifinals. Pierre Montrieul and Carlos Gomez of Barry defeated the Sailfish duo in the finals 6-2.
In the "B" draw Philipp Hoffmann and Carlos Niemeyer were the Sailfish to advance to the finals with wins over Victor Ravier and Martin Guttierez from Barry and Frederico Lombisano and Scott Power from Keiser. Miguel Paz and Nick Torres were first round winners for the 'Fish.
Niemeyer and Torres picked up wins in singles action while Zarazua was also able to pick up a victory in a consolation match.
The Sailfish will close out their fall season with a trip to Melbourne Oct. 27-29 for the Suntree Doubles Slam.
