WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – For the 12th consecutive match the No. 14 Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team defeated the opposition, sweeping Nova Southeastern in straight sets – 25-14, 25-20, 25-21 – on Tuesday evening in Rubin Arena.

The Sailfish (22-3) improve to 13-0 on the season in three set matches in picking up their ninth straight win over the Sharks – all in three sets. Faith Rohn led the team with 12 kills and 17 digs for her 12th double-double of the season.  PBA tallied 43 kills on the night with 15 in each of the second and third sets, hitting .183 for the match. The Sharks (16-10) recorded 33 kills and a .045 attack on the night.

A 9-1 run by the ‘Fish in the opening set flipped the script in favor of the home side, giving PBA a 13-10 lead.   Late in the set the Sailfish used an 8-2 run to close the set as freshman Jen Cook tallied a pair of kills during the run. Faith Rohn led the way with five kills and five digs in the set. Rachael Holehouse added six of her 16 digs in the opener. Stephany Brown and Sarah Ragland each tallied four blocks in the set as the Sharks committed nine attack errors.

PBA opened a big lead early in set two, leading 15-7 as the Sharks scored only one point off of their own serve to start the set. That changed midway through as NSU scored six straight points to close to within two at 15-13, forcing the ‘Fish to call a timeout. After the timeout, the ‘Fish scored two straight on attack errors by the Sharks to go ahead 17-13. After Nova again closed to two at 20-18, PBA scored four of the final five points capped off on a kill from Ally Rohn to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The third set was balanced for the Sailfish as five players recorded two or more kills with Sarah Ragland leading the way with four. The sophomore finished the match with six kills on 15 swings. In addition, Ragland added one solo block and three more block assists to finish the match with two solo blocks and seven block assists.

PBA jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the final set before the Sharks chipped away to close the gap to two at 13-11 but three straight points from the ‘Fish including kills from Brown and Faith pushed the margin back out to five at 16-11. PBA closed the set and the match with a kill from Ragland and an attack error – the 27th of the match – from the Sharks.

Susie Forbes notched double-digits in digs for the seventh straight match with 14 on Tuesday. Alexandra Roberts set up the offense with 19 assists while Ally Rohn added 17. Rohn also recorded eight digs and seven kills. Emma Ballantyne – who leads the team in attack percentage – put away eight kills on 17 attempts to finish with a team-best .353 attack. Stephany Brown finished with five blocks and five kills.

The ‘Fish will honor their senior class before their match before battling No. 5 Tampa on Friday in Rubin Arena at 7 p.m. The Spartans picked up a 3-1 victory over the 'Fish back in October in the first meeting of the season.
