Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball picked up another win in dominating fashion on Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Eagles from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University 25-14, 25-19, 25-15 to earn their 15th straight win. The No. 10 Sailfish have won their last 14 sets.
It was a familiar story for the ‘Fish (25-3) as the Rohn sisters – Ally and Faith – each collected 10 kills in the match with Ally adding 18 assists for yet another double-double. The freshman leads the team with 21 double-doubles on the season and was just two digs away from a triple-double. Faith added nine digs and three service aces as the Sailfish collected their fourth straight win in three sets.
The team hit .226 for the match including a .333 clip in the third set, racking up 16 kills in the process.
PBA jumped all over the Eagles (15-15) in the early going, taking a 12-3 lead at the start of set one. Abby Palkert picked up a pair of kills in the early going to help the club. The sophomore finished the match with four kills, three coming in the opening set.
The second set turned out to be the closest of the three as the Eagles took an early 4-0 lead and kept the lead until the ‘Fish finally tied it at 13-13 on a kill from Ally Rohn. The teams traded short leads before back-to-back attack errors from the Eagles – thanks in part to a combined block from Sarah Ragland and Stephany Brown – gave the Sailfish a 20-18 advantage. That started a 6-0 for PBA as they closed the set with seven of the final eight points.
The ‘Fish left no room for a comeback by the Eagles in the third, using a 12-4 start to bury the home side. Brown had two of her three kills during the run as the team collected six kills. The Eagles hit .087 in the finale set and just .080 for the match.
PBA collected 14 block assists in the match with Brown and Ragland earning four each and Palkert and Emma Ballantyne accounting for three apiece. Ragland also added eight kills and a .357 attack while Ballantyne chipped in with five kills.
Alexandra Roberts registered 17 assists and 13 digs for her 10th double-double of the season. Rachael Holehouse led the defense with 20 digs while Susie Forbes added six.
The ‘Fish will close out the regular season next weekend as they travel to Florida Southern on Friday night and Florida Tech on Saturday night.
The NCAA South Regional tournament is scheduled to be held at the site of the top seed beginning on Dec. 3. PBA was ranked No. 1 in the second regional rankings released on Wednesday. The latest ranking will be released this Wednesday with the AVCA National Top-25 scheduled to be released on Monday.
