Box Score WINTER PARK, Fla. – The streak continues. No. 10 Palm Beach Atlantic pushed their winning streak to 14 on Friday night with a 3-0 sweep of the Rollins Tars. The ‘Fish have won their last three matches in three sets.
Faith Rohn led all players with 17 kills for the Sailfish (24-3) including eight in the first set. Rachael Holehouse led the defense with 26 digs as the team dug up 95 balls on the night. Rohn added 14 digs of her own for her 14th double-double of the season and seventh in a row. Her younger sister Ally contributed her 20th double-double of the season with 17 assists and 15 digs, missing a triple-double by one kill.
The ‘Fish turned a close first set into what looked like an easy win, taking the set 25-18. A kill by Rollins cut the lead to two at 19-17 but the ‘Fish took the next five points to seize control.
The scenario played out differently in the second as the Tars (10-17) led 23-18 and looked to even the match at 1-1 but the ‘Fish rallied. Five straight points by the Sailfish including kills by Sarah Ragland and both Rohn sisters evened the set. The teams traded points before Ally Rohn started the mini-run 3-0 to close the set with a kill. Rohn’s kill was followed by a bad set call on the Tars and finished with a kill by Faith Rohn to take the set 28-26.
The Sailfish buried the Tars in the third, leading 18-8 before the Tars fought back. Rollins used a 7-1 run late in the set to close to within three at 20-17 but PBA held off the Tars to take the set 25-21 on an ace by Faith.
Ragland and Ally Rohn added nine kills as the Sailfish tallied 47 on the night despite hitting just .190. PBA held the Tars to just a .129 attack as Bri Civiero led the Tars with 15 kills. Alexandra Roberts set up the offense for the ‘Fish with 19 assists and also added 13 digs, good for her ninth double-double on the year.
Susie Forbes added 18 digs for the ‘Fish as Ragland paced the net defense with six total blocks including four solo. Emma Ballantyne added six kills and two blocks while Stephany Brown chipped in with five kills and one block.
The ‘Fish return to the court on Saturday at 4 p.m. to take on Embry-Riddle in a matchup of the Sunshine State Conference provisional members.
