ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – An up-and-down contest turned out to favor the No. 14 Sailfish as Palm Beach Atlantic was scared into a five-setter on Saturday afternoon at Eckerd.

The Fish (21-3) cruised to a 25-18 first set win before dropping sets two and three narrowly, 26-24 and 27-25. Palm Beach Atlantic responded with their backs against the wall, taking the fourth set 25-16 before coming from behind late to win the fifth 16-14. PBA is now 2-1 in five set contests this year.

Faith Rohn and Sarah Ragland teamed up to provide 33 kills for the ‘Fish as Rohn tallied 17 including the final point of the match. The duo were responsible for the final three points for the Sailfish, which were also the final three points of the match as PBA came back from a 14-12 hole at the end. Ragland finished with 16 kills and six blocks. Rohn added 17 digs on defense, good for her 11th double-double of the season.

The Sailfish looked to be cruising in the fifth set, taking an 11-8 lead on a kill by Jen Cook. The Tritons battled back by scoring four straight to take a 14-12 lead. The theme was similar to sets two and three but this time the ‘Fish prevailed.

In the third the Sailfish had set point at 24-23 off a kill by Stephany Brown and again at 25-24 as Ragland picked up a kill, but the Tritons’ Tjasa Kotnik came up with a kill of her own each time to keep Eckerd alive. After a block by the Tritons gave them set point, a ball handling error was whistled on Ally Rohn as the ‘Fish fell behind 2-1 in the match.

PBA came out firing in the fourth set, racking up 14 kills and a .312 attack percentage en route to the most lopsided set of the match. Jen Cook and Faith Rohn both had four kills in the set as Ragland added three of her own.

The Sailfish hit a match-best .395 in the first set, totaling 17 kills in the set. Sarah Ragland hit a perfect 1.000 in the set with five kills on five attacks. Abby Palkert, Ally Rohn and Stephany Brown each had three kills each in the set.

Brown finished the match with nine kills while Ally Rohn added eight to go along with 29 assists and 13 digs. The double-double for Rohn is the 19th in 24 games. She also has seven triple-doubles on the season. Emma Ballantyne added eight kills.

Susie Forbes led the team with 20 digs while Rachael Holehouse added 19 digs. Alexandra Roberts tallied 24 assists and three digs while also registering two aces. Amy Schatzmann added another three aces after recording four on Friday night.

PBA will return to Rubin Arena for the final time this season, hosting Nova Southeastern on Tuesday at 7 p.m. before welcoming in Tampa on Friday, Nov. 6 for senior day at 7 p.m.
