Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Much in the same manner as they displayed a few weeks ago in Davie, Florida, the Palm Beach Atlantic University volleyball team put together another dominating performance over Nova Southeastern University on Wednesday evening as the Fish swept past the Sharks by a 3-0 final score at the Rubin Arena. PBA earned the win with game victories of 25-19, 25-15, and 25-7 to improve to 17-2 on the season.
The match would begin with a solid showing by both teams in the opening set with the Fish pulling away down the stretch for the victory. Games two and three however saw a more lopsided hitting spectacle as the Sailfish connected for a team attacking percentage of .474 in the second set and .556 in the third and final set.
On the flip side the Sharks (4-15) headed the other direction after a .152 attacking mark in the opener down to negative totals of -.033 and -.120 in sets two and three respectively.
Junior Mariela Quesada led the team in kills once again with 11 after a 19-kill effort her last time out against the Sharks a few weeks ago. The dynamic PBA outside-hitter finished with a .364 attacking percentage for the match while adding in nine digs and two block assists.
Lisa Jedlicka gave the team a big lift especially in the opening set when she posted five of her eight total kills in the match. Senior Lanae Robinson and sophomore Christina Alessi chipped in with six kills each with both hitting over .400 for the match.
Becca Acevedo finished with 29 assists in the win while Melissa McPeek and Allie Warren led the backrow defensive effort for head coach Bob White’s squad with 11 and 10 digs respectively.
On the NSU side it was Danielle Graham leading the way with six kills while Anabely Escarpita and Samantha High each contributing five kills. Jordan Pappas posted 18 assists in the loss while Paige Boivin played two of the sets as the team’s libero and finished with eight digs.
The Fish have a week off from their next scheduled match which will take place at Ave Maria University on Wednesday, October 19th at 7 pm.
