WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Welcoming in fellow NCCAA South Region opponent Southeastern University on Friday evening, the Palm Beach Atlantic University volleyball team overcame an up-and-down match performance to close out the Fire in four sets with a 3-1 win. Sophomore Mariela Quesada produced a feast-or-famine type match with a career-high 22 kills while also producing a career-high 11 errors.

After a close 27-25 win in the opening set, the Sailfish earned a more comfortable 25-17 win in set number two, appearing as if they might sweep the Fire for the second straight time this season. The gritty play of the Red and Black would have none of it however as they limited PBA to a -.013 hitting percentage in the third set as they dominated to a 25-15 win. The Fish responded with a 25-19 win in game four to seal the match.

Palm Beach Atlantic (15-4) earned their fifteenth victory of the season behind a determined defensive effort that produced 57 digs including three players reaching double-figures led by junior Allie Warren’s 22 digs. Quesada would produce a double-double effort with 12 digs while senior Jennifer Eldridge collected 11 digs to go along with seven kills and a .286 attacking percentage.

Quesada once again proved dominant at times with her big swing as she collected 52 total attacks amongst her 22 kills.

Jessica Way produced a solid overall night with 48 assists to go along with an efficient four kills in six attempts. Junior Lanae Robinson was one of four players to register at least three blocks as she led all PBA players with five block assists to go with seven kills.

The Fire were paced by Christi Limpert and her 10 kills while Karina Mambuca added a near double-double performance with nine kills and 12 digs. The setting duties were split for Southeastern between Tara McSherley (17 assists) and Samantha Pimental (13 assists).

Palm Beach Atlantic will have the remainder of the weekend off from game action as they will now prepare for a showdown at Saint Leo University on Tuesday, October 19th at 7 pm.
