Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Although small in roster size, the Barry University volleyball team packs a pretty powerful punch. The Buccaneers would only dress out 10 players on Wednesday evening at the Rubin Arena, they would still have enough in the tank to prove too strong for the Sailfish liking as BU tallied a 3-0 sweep with wins of 25-18, 25-22, and 25-18 over Palm Beach Atlantic University in volleyball action.
All three sets would produce similar showings from both teams as the score would often favor the Sailfish through the first 20 combined points of each set, only to see the Buccaneers fight back with determined efforts to take the sweep.
Palm Beach Atlantic (14-4) was unable to avoid the powerful hitting of the Buccaneers (11-3) from the start as BU managed a team hitting percentage of .270 while the Sailfish were limited to only a .065 team hitting percentage.
Senior Ady Alcantara led the hitting efforts of the Bucs with a match-high of 15 kills while also leading all players with 17 digs on the defensive side. Setter Libby Walter did a nice job of setting up the BU attack during the evening with 35 assists.
The Fish received a nice effort from sophomore Mariela Quesada who led all Sailfish hitters with nine kills while adding in eight digs and two block assists. Junior Jessica Way served up 22 assists in defeat while Allie Warren contributed double-digits in digs with 10.
The Sailfish will be back in action on Friday, October 15th at 7 p.m. when they play host to Southeastern University at the Rubin Arena.
