WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- After winning their first four matches of the season, the Palm Beach Atlantic University volleyball team has now dropped their last six including Saturday afternoon’s home match versus Flagler College by a 3-0 tally. The victory pushed the Saints record to 11-5 on the season.

Once again starting off a bit sluggish, the Sailfish were never really able to get things moving in the right direction in their first set as they were defeated 25-16 by the visiting Saints. FC would have a much tougher road in game two and even trailed in the late stages before over-taking the Fish 27-25 to move ahead 2-0.

After the exhausting effort in game two, the Sailfish were unable to topple Flagler in the third game as they cruised to a 25-17 victory and a 3-0 sweep of the Fish.

The big-hitting duo of Justine Burkhardt and Meg Weathersby led Flagler as they posted 13 and 12 kills respectively.

PBA once again used a deep lineup as senior Brittany Erickson paced the Sailfish attack with eight kills while also leading the squad with 14 digs on the defensive end.

Sophomores Kristin Carroll and Liz Fugate followed Erickson’s tally with six kills each while freshman Lauren Villarreal chipped in four kills.

Now 4-6 on the season, the Sailfish will look to right the ship in their next outing as they take on Eckerd College on Monday, September 22nd. The game is scheduled for 7 pm in the Rubin Arena.
